Brexit Highlights 8 – 14 October 2018

– The Department for Exiting the European Union published new documents (technical notes) which should provide guidance on how to prepare for Brexit if there is no deal. These include, for example, the following: Sanctions policy if there’s no Brexit deal; Existing free trade agreements if there’s no Brexit deal, Consumer rights if there’s no Brexit deal

– Third quarterly update to Parliament of the government’s progress on the UK’s exit from the Euratom Treaty was made available.

– The House of Commons Library produced new research briefings – Future trade with the EU: Mutual recognition; Brexit questions in national and EU courts

– A video recording together with speakers’ presentations from a hearing of the Constitutional Committee (European Parliament)The withdrawal agreement between the EU and the UK – were made available.

– Several articles were published on the Free Movement blog, including the following – Government “won’t have any idea” how many EU citizens lack immigration status after Brexit

– A new post was published on the Landmark Chambers Brexit blog – London Calling! Post Brexit, closer economic ties between Wales and London are essential

– New articles were published on the European Futures blog – Implementation of Brexit in the UK; Keeping Free Movement vs. Ending Free Movement: The Common Travel Area after Brexit

– A new post was published on the UK Constitutional Law Association blog – Jack Simson Caird: Taking Back Control: Brexit, Parliament and the Rule of Law
